FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING (FMS)
A screening tool used to evaluate fundamental movement patterns in individuals with no current pain or injury. The screen is designed to put an individual in positions where movement deficits become noticeable if appropriate stability and mobility are not used. Individuals may perform an activity at a high level, but they also are limited in fundamental movements. This leads to the use of compensatory movements in order to achieve or maintain the level of performance needed for the activity. This will eventually lead to poor biomechanics and limited gains in performance. Contact Personal Trainer Jason Hiatt at jasonhiatt6@sbcglobal.net for questions and inquiries.
