New Park at Bennett & Laclede Station Rd Coming this Spring!

At the start of work on the park, the following letter was sent out to residents nearby about the work that will take place this fall to create a new mini-park.  You will find a link to show the plans and examples of the types of items that will be added as well.

We are excited to share with you our plans for a small neighborhood park being constructed near your residence.  City staff will begin work this week to enlarge the green space at the intersection of Bennett Ave and Laclede Station Road in order to install a passive park memorializing the Bennett Avenue Historic District. The park will include landscaping, benches, and an informational sign honoring tennis star Arthur Ashe, and well-known tennis coach Richard Hudlin, who once resided at 1221 Laclede Station Road.

Over the next several weeks, you may see work crews on-site removing sections of the street and sidewalk, forming new sidewalks and curbs, installing irrigation, installing an ornamental fence, and planting landscape plants and trees.

We have enclosed a copy of the plans for your information. For questions, do not hesitate to call Parks Superintendent Tim Brunsman at (314) 655-3656 or email him at
